12 Habits for Women's Health

Here are 12 healthy habits that support women's health at almost every age:

  1. Eat a balanced diet – Include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, healthy fats, and calcium-rich foods.
  2. Exercise regularly – Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate activity (such as brisk walking or cycling) each week, plus strength training twice a week.
  3. Stay hydrated – Drink enough water throughout the day (about 2–3 liters, depending on your needs and climate).
  4. Get enough sleep – Try to sleep 7–9 hours every night.
  5. Maintain a healthy weight – A healthy weight lowers the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses.
  6. Manage stress – Practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, prayer, or yoga.
  7. Don't smoke and limit alcohol – Smoking increases the risk of cancer and heart disease. If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation or avoid it.
  8. Take care of reproductive health – Practice safe sex, track menstrual cycles, and seek medical advice for unusual symptoms.
  9. Have regular health checkups – Keep up with blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, breast exams, cervical cancer screening, and other recommended screenings based on your age.
  10. Strengthen your bones – Get enough calcium and vitamin D, and include weight-bearing exercises to help prevent osteoporosis.
  11. Practice good hygiene – Maintain personal and oral hygiene, wash hands regularly, and care for skin and intimate areas appropriately.
  12. Look after your mental health – Stay connected with family and friends, make time for hobbies, and seek professional help if you experience persistent anxiety, depression, or emotional distress.
